The Balinese

The Balinese is the semi-longhair version of the Siamese.

She owns her name to her graceful and elegant movements, which remind us of the Balinese dancers. It is said it is a spontaneous muntation out of two Siamese, who both must have carried the longhair-gen. Some American breeders liked this so much that they continued breeding with these semi-longhaired Siamese.

The Balinese has been recongnized in 1970 as a breed. Cross-mating from Balinese to Siamese are still being done to improve the Balinese type. The Balinese has the same colors as the Siamese: lilac, blue, chocolate and seal-point, but also the following varieties appear: tortie-, red-and cream point and the foreign Whites, cinnamon and fawn-points.
All these colors appear in the tabby-point as well.

The coat is soft as silk and is closelying to the body. an undercoat is undesirable. The coat ends in a beautifull bushy tail.

The Balinese is sweet and devoted, loves to be in company and cannot be alone for a long time. They ask quite a lot of attention and like to talk, as well to their owners. Generally the balinese is a little quiter than the Siamese.
