If the Exotic Breed were found Wearing a Label tucked away within it's "plushy" Coat It would most assuredly be Stamped "Made In the USA."

The Exotic's were "first" recognized & accepted in 1967 within the US.
They were a  cross with the Burmese &  American Short Hair at that time. And were tagged with the Name of "Exotic" to distinguish the Breed from their OutCrosses, as well as  to emphasize their Link with the Imported Persian.

These days you may very well hear such "Terms" as "The Lazy Mans Persian", "Persians In Petticoats & a "Teddy Bear Cat."

This mostly implys  to the over all "Look" of the Persian Breed, with Coat Lengths & Textures that are very dense, plush & freestanding with a "Bottle Brush Tail".

Since those "early" Years, the current Breed of Exotic's has been bred for "more" refinement towards meeting the Persian Standard & is now Out Crossed to the Persian & Himalayan with some amazing "results." A colorful array of "interesting" & beautiful  colors include; Solids, Smokes, Tabbies, BI-Colors & Points.

These "Short Hair Persians" besides being easy to groom are "easy" going, playful, very affectionate & loyal companions.

While the Persian & Himalayan have always been among the Top Breeds in popularity, the Exotic Short Hair Breed has become very sought after by many & have gained their own right to a "place" among the Top Breeds for the Extravagant Cats that they are!
